Job Description

Seeking candidate to initiate, foster, and grow community partnerships within mentor program for youth with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong roots and experience in the disability community and working with youth. Candidate should possess the ability to develop positive relationships and coordinate the growth of the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct ongoing outreach and public relations efforts to recruit mentors and mentees.
• Follow-up all leads on a timely basis, returning telephone calls, sending out program information, and setting up interviews with prospective youth and adult mentors.
• Interview youth mentees at their homes or at a mutually agreed-upon location, explain program requirements and complete associated paperwork.
• Conduct mentor trainings to orient new mentors to their role.
• Use well-developed processes for matching youth and adult mentors
• Maintain a positive relationship with and provide timeline updates to collaborating agencies
• Maintain regular contact with wait listed mentors and mentees to communicate their current status for a match
• Conduct follow-up with matched mentees and mentors.
• Enter and update all client documentation into database regularly as client status changes.
• Work with evaluation specialists to diligently track project results.
• Contribute to workshops for youth including transition events (e.g. summer jobs workshop, stress management event, self-advocacy training etc.)
• Plan and implement mentor community forum sessions.
• Assist with grant reporting
• Promote and assist with Bender Leadership Academy programs and initiatives
• Attend regular staff, team and supervision meetings
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree and experience in the fields of health or human services, special education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, or other related fields necessary.
• Experience in the disability community and working with youth.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be familiar with the use of databases for inputting client data.
• Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Candidate must have access to a car and be able to travel throughout Western Pennsylvania to conduct program services and be available for occasional evening and weekend work.
