Job Description

Scope of Role: The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for completing assigned engineering projects in accordance with Sourcing Commodity Managers to provide technical support for cost down initiatives for a company that designs and manufactures quality air-moving product. The person in this role will accomplish this by serving as a liaison between Commodity Managers, suppliers, engineering and manufacturing to provide results to achieve targeted goals set by the Sourcing Director.
Serves as a member of the sourcing team with specific assignments related to cost reduction and quality objectives
Serves as an internal engineering consultant to the Sourcing Commodity Managers for cost down initiatives.
Conducts investigations into the nature of parts, components and assemblies used in Gast products to reach cost down goals.
Design tests in accordance with accepted statistical methods and documents results.
Presents new ideas, concepts, processes and materials that support the corporate product development strategy.
Drive new concepts to manufacturing through successful cost down projects.
Establishes new parts, new models for release to production to reduce overall product cost without degrading performance.
Transfers technology as required within Gast which includes international operations.
Measures of Performance
Timely and successful completion of various business projects
Significant improvement in First pass yield in SIR (Sample inspection), lab test and results
Sustainable supplier performance improvements in Quality, OTD, Lead-time reduction, Inventory Turns, and PBIT
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated work experience in a related field
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Demonstrates experience and knowledge in the manufacturing and/or industrial industry.
Self-starter maintains high ethical standards.
Demonstrates ability to lead and work well in a team environment.
Possess strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Exhibits commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Must be self-motivated, show initiative, anticipate and prevent issues by executing advanced problem-solving skills.

Ability to operate computers and proficient in MSOffice applications.
