Job Description
The Business Analyst supports analytical and documentation aspects of the application and product life cycle across clinical and operational healthcare systems. This role partners with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to understand current processes, define future state capabilities, and translate complex clinical and business needs into detailed, actionable requirements.
This position plays a key role in documenting As-Is and To-Be processes, ensuring regulatory and audit readiness, supporting quality assurance activities, and participating throughout the full software development life cycle to ensure high-quality, compliant healthcare solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Elicit, analyze, and document business, clinical, and system requirements, including As-Is and To-Be process flows, use cases, business rules, data dictionaries, and traceability matrices
• Serve as a liaison between business users, clinical stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and technical staff
• Analyze current systems, application dependencies, and workflows to identify opportunities for process and system improvements
• Translate high-level business and clinical needs into detailed functional requirements and technical specifications
• Create process maps and documentation using tools such as Visio or equivalent
• Participate in Agile scrum teams and contribute to various SDLC phases including planning, design, testing, and implementation
• Develop and execute test plans, scenarios, and test cases; document and manage defects
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective action plans
• Support audit preparation and evidence validation to ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements
• Participate in change reviews and serve as an independent reviewer for infrastructure and process changes
• Track tasks, risks, defects, and issues through completion and provide regular status updates to project leadership
• Assist in development of training materials and support stakeholder understanding of requirements
• Ensure appropriate controls and quality standards are applied to all work efforts
• Support data exchange initiatives and understand end-to-end system impacts across multiple healthcare systems
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams
• Maintain strong client satisfaction through clear communication, thorough documentation, and proactive problem solving
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Healthcare, Nursing, Informatics, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–5 years of experience in Business Analysis within healthcare, health insurance, or clinical systems environments
• Strong experience gathering and documenting requirements and process design
• Experience creating BA deliverables including process diagrams, requirements documents, use cases, traceability matrices, and business rules
• Experience working on cross-functional teams in matrixed environments
• Ability to manage complex stakeholders and competing priorities
• Familiarity with documentation best practices including version control and requirement traceability
• Experience supporting third-party system implementations
Preferred Skills
• Experience in regulated healthcare environments and audit preparation
• Experience with evidence validation and compliance reviews
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and Agile project environments
• SQL and data analysis experience
• Lean / Six Sigma experience
• Understanding of clinical workflows, disease processes, and healthcare data
• Experience with large-scale data exchange initiatives
• PMP, Six Sigma, or clinical licensure a plus
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
• This position is fully remote; however, candidates must permanently reside in the United States to be eligible.
• All work must be conducted within the continental U.S.
