Job Description
Responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens while providing excellent patient care and customer service. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, and comfortable working with patients of all ages in a clinical or hospital environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform blood specimen collection using standard phlebotomy techniques including venipuncture, heel sticks, and finger sticks
• Instruct and assist patients with the collection of non-blood specimens as needed
• Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens according to laboratory policies and procedures
• Ensure timely and accurate specimen collection and delivery within established turnaround times
• Perform laboratory support duties including order entry, patient registration, and specimen receiving
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and adequate inventory of supplies within the work area
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and confidentiality protocols at all times
• Provide professional, compassionate, and respectful patient interactions
• Assist with training or mentoring phlebotomy students when applicable
• Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of phlebotomy training program
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance
Preferred
• Six months or more of phlebotomy experience
• Experience in a hospital, laboratory, or outpatient clinical setting
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and laboratory systems
