Job Description

The Finishing Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality finished print materials by operating a variety of print finishing and bindery equipment. This role works closely with production staff, internal teams, and customers to ensure printed products are completed accurately, efficiently, and according to specifications.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of commercial printing and finishing processes, including print layouts, paper characteristics, binding methods, and quality control standards. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to craftsmanship are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and maintain print finishing equipment, including cutters, folders, booklet makers, perfect binders, and related machinery.
Review job specifications and production requirements to ensure finished products meet customer expectations and quality standards.
Perform cutting, folding, collating, binding, trimming, and other finishing operations on a variety of printed materials.
Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and consistency throughout the production process.
Understand print layouts, imposition requirements, and finishing specifications to ensure proper job execution.
Apply knowledge of paper stocks, grain direction, coatings, and material characteristics when performing finishing tasks.
Troubleshoot equipment and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
Work collaboratively with press operators, production staff, customer service teams, and customers to resolve job-related questions and concerns.
Maintain production records and complete required documentation.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Assist with equipment maintenance and routine upkeep as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience operating production, bindery, or finishing equipment in a commercial print, manufacturing, or production environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to read and interpret job tickets, specifications, and production instructions.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet production deadlines.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred
Experience operating perfect binders, booklet makers, cutters, folders, or other commercial finishing equipment.
Knowledge of commercial printing processes, print layouts, and finishing techniques.
Understanding of paper stocks, grain direction, and material handling best practices.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
Experience working in a fast-paced print production environment.
