Job Description
Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and any third-party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center and to support operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Responsibilities
• Utilizes safe working practices; can apply lockout/tagout, SDS, applies good housekeeping methods, etc. Ability to type and utilize common administrative and office software.
• Reads and reviews blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, mechanical riser drawings, and job specifications.
• Ability to use hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair new or replacement parts for existing units covered under CET classified procedures, according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer’s literature, and industry best practices to perform tasks under supervision, and ensures activities are logged in CMMS.
• Capable of assisting a CET technician with CET classified procedures (MOP/SOP) associated with the site/campus where they are based.
• Daily walk-through of facility documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc. to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends.
• Ability to understand site-specific processes and procedures such as how to report an incident or outage, procedure execution, PM standards, CMMS system, as well as the use of SharePoint to access CE procedures and training content.
• Ability to learn how to access the site primary and secondary EOP’s and understand the purpose of each of the EOP's and the critical nature of being an operator and first responder in the datacenter.
• Navigate and verify the nominal status of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure via the BMS and EPMS systems, following site MOP & SOP procedures.
Qualifications
• 4 years of experience in facility maintenance
• Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; ability to obtain & maintain HSPD & Secret, preferred HSPD-12 & Secret Active.
• Possess a Journeyman Electrician License, Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent.
• Experience and working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
• Experience working on government and/commercial projects implementing cybersecurity requirements in a variety of industrial control systems (e.g., building management, electronic security, fire alarm/mass notification, electrical distribution, power management, etc.).
