Summary:
Performs diagnostic tests, manages specimens, and ensures the accuracy and quality of test results. This position is essential to support patient care by providing timely and reliable laboratory data that aids in diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Perform laboratory tests and procedures accurately in various departments (hematology, microbiology, chemistry, etc.).
• Collect, label, and process patient specimens, ensuring proper handling and storage.
• Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring they are clean and functioning correctly.
• Record test results and report findings to appropriate medical staff in a timely manner.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, laboratory procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in accordance with safety standards.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA regulations).
• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) preferred.
• Previous experience as a Laboratory Technician, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Strong understanding of laboratory tests, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
