Job Description
SUMMARY
This job performs electroneurodiagnostic testing specific to neurodiagnostic department; maintains working relationships with internal/external customers to ensure accurate and timely procedures and reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs all electroencephalograms, routine and portable electrocerebral silence, 24-hour ambulatory EEGs, EMG/NCV testing, in accordance with the clinical practice guidelines established by the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ASET) and departmental policy/procedures.
• Schedules neurodiagnostic procedures and gives accurate instructions.
• Performs all billing documentation and maintains all departmental records according to departmental policy/procedures.
• Maintains electrophysiological equipment, supplies, and performs quality control and analysis of all neurodiagnostic testing devices.
• Participates in activities to improve the quality of patient care and services provided by the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• One of the following training/education:
A) Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field
B) Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) Neurodiagnostic Tech program
C) Certificate of completion from an American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) recognized neurodiagnostic program
D) Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified in CPR through American Heart Association
• One of the following certifications:
A) Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG. T)
B) Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T)
C) Certified Autonomic Professional (CAP) through ABRET, preferred
• EMT, Medical Assistant Certification, or PA Licensed Practical Nurse, preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in operating EEG and related diagnostic equipment.
• Compassionate patient care and bedside manner.
