Job Description
The Operating Room Aide provides essential support to the surgical team in the operating room. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, sterile, and organized environment to ensure safe and efficient surgical procedures. The Aide assists and supports nurses and physicians in the delivery of surgical services through indirect patient care activities such as preparing the operating room, handling surgical instruments, ensuring proper sterilization, and transporting patients as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in turning rooms over which includes bed cleaning, removing trash and emptying dirty linen according department guidelines.
• Assists with running errands, obtaining, moving and returning equipment, pharmacy orders and/or central supplies.
• Inventories and stocks assigned areas and equipment.
• Assists in the movement, positioning and transporting of patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
• CPR Certified through American Heart Association.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an operating room or surgical environment, preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic surgical procedures is a plus.
